Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Muttaqi met S. Jaishankar during his visit to India. He stated that Afghanistan would never allow its territory to be used against India and emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation.
New Delhi: Afghanistan's Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, is currently on an official visit to India. This marks Muttaqi's first visit to India since the formation of the Taliban government. During this visit, he held bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. In the meeting, Afghanistan clarified that its territory would under no circumstances be used against India. This message signifies the strengthening of trust and strategic partnership between the two nations.
Dual Priorities in the Meeting
During the meeting at Hyderabad House in Delhi, Muttaqi emphasized mutual respect, trade, and friendly relations with India. He stated that Afghanistan always wishes to maintain good relations with India and will continue to strive for them. Muttaqi praised India, noting that India has always supported Afghanistan in difficult times.
Regional Security and Commitment
During the meeting, Muttaqi clarified that Afghanistan would not allow any force to use its territory against other countries. He stated that even during the American occupation, Afghanistan never issued any statements against India. On the contrary, Afghanistan has always sought to maintain b and positive relations with India.
India's Role in Humanitarian Aid
Muttaqi also praised India's humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan. He recalled that India was the first to come forward with help during devastating earthquakes and other natural disasters. According to him, this demonstrates that India is a true friend and reliable partner of Afghanistan.
Trade and economic cooperation were also discussed during the meeting. Muttaqi stated that the relations between the two countries are not limited to trade alone. These relations extend to various sectors such as culture, sports, and education. He mentioned that the objective of this visit is to promote further cooperation in these areas.
Reference to Previous Talks with Misri
Muttaqi referred to the meeting held in January 2025 in Dubai with India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials. He stated that at that time, both countries had discussed several issues and made efforts to enhance understanding. The objective of the current visit is to further strengthen these understandings.
