Agriculture Minister Acknowledges Soybean Seed Failure, Vows Compensation and Investigation

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh has acknowledged that farmers have been deceived. He stated that many farmers had sown soybean, but the seeds did not germinate properly, leading to significant losses for the farmers.

New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a significant statement on Sunday during a meeting with farmers in his home district of Vidisha. He explicitly admitted that many farmers had been deceived and had suffered as a result. The failure of soybean seeds to germinate after sowing caused heavy losses for the farmers. The Agriculture Minister said that the government would thoroughly investigate the entire matter and that no guilty party would be spared.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the fields of farmers in Vidisha where soybean had been sown, but most of the seeds did not germinate. Seeing this situation, the farmers were upset and complained directly to the Agriculture Minister. Shivraj assured the farmers that the government would compensate for their losses and ensure strict action against the culprits.

Investigation into the role of seed companies will be conducted

Speaking to the media present at the site, the Agriculture Minister said, "I have personally inspected the seeds in the fields. Many seeds are completely damaged; they have not germinated. This is a deception of the farmers. We will investigate which company supplied these seeds, from which society they reached the farmers, and if any irregularities are found, the culprits will be severely punished." He also said that the farmer brothers and sisters must receive compensation and relief for their losses, and this is his top priority.

Farmers' anger and Shivraj's sensitivity

On Sunday, many farmers went to Shivraj Singh to show him the condition of their fields. The area's MP and local MLA were also with him. The farmers said that they had bought seeds at high prices, but the result was zero. Not only was their hard work wasted, but the cost of water, fertilizer, and land was also lost.

Understanding the farmers' plight, Shivraj said that if any dishonesty has occurred with the farmers at any level, the government will not remain silent. The responsibility of seed-supplying agencies, cooperative societies, and responsible officers will be fixed.

The format for compensation will be prepared soon

The Agriculture Minister made it clear that relief and compensation would be provided to the affected farmers, but first, a thorough investigation would be conducted into the entire problem. The amount of compensation and the method of distribution will be decided only after the investigation report comes out to maintain transparency. He said, "It is my duty to provide justice to the farmers. I will personally keep an eye on this entire matter and will soon hold a meeting with the officers to move forward the relief process."

After Shivraj Singh's statement, there has been a stir in the political circles of the state. The opposition has demanded that the licenses of the guilty companies be immediately revoked so that such fraud does not happen to any other farmer in the future. At the same time, the local leaders of the BJP have called Shivraj's decision a b step in the interest of the farmers and said that he always stands with the farmers.
