Congress Leader Ajay Rai Seeks Enhanced Security for Rahul Gandhi After Attack on Delhi CM

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Ajay Rai has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting enhanced security for Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. This demand follows the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Ajay Rai has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting enhanced security for Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. Citing the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Rai stated that while public representatives should be accessible to citizens, their security is equally important.

In his letter, Ajay Rai wrote, "The personal security of our leader, Rahul Gandhi, is of utmost importance. He is one of the most popular leaders in Congress and Indian politics. In recent years, he has led several programs involving direct interaction with the public, including the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the Lok Sabha election campaign."

Ajay Rai Raises Security Concerns

Ajay Rai said in his letter that public representatives should always be accessible to the public, but at the same time, their personal security is equally important. He wrote, "Rahul Gandhi is one of the most popular leaders not only of the Congress Party but also of Indian politics. He has strengthened the tradition of direct dialogue with the public in recent years."

The Bharat Jodo Yatra and the recent Lok Sabha election campaign are examples of this. In such programs, millions of citizens come to listen to his ideology and meet him. In these circumstances, his security should be given the highest priority."

'Jan Adhikar Yatra' Continues in Bihar

Currently, Rahul Gandhi is leading the 'Jan Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar. A large number of people are participating in this Yatra. Ajay Rai said that the risk of security increases in such crowds. He urged the Home Minister to provide the highest level of security to Rahul Gandhi so that any untoward incident can be avoided.

Ajay Rai also mentioned in his letter that the Gandhi family has already been a victim of terrorism-related violence. The assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi are examples of this. Given this history, it is extremely important to exercise extra vigilance regarding the security of Rahul Gandhi.

Concerns Increased After Attack on Rekha Gupta

This demand comes at a time when Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was recently attacked during a public hearing program at her office in Civil Lines. A person tried to attack her, who was later arrested. The Chief Minister's office termed the incident as "a conspiracy to murder her."

After the attack, Delhi Police has reviewed her security arrangements. According to sources, a new security system will now be implemented during public hearings. There will be a strict verification process of the identity and complaint of the complainants and they will be allowed to reach the Chief Minister only after the investigation is completed.
