Telugu cinema veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently in the spotlight due to his upcoming film, Akhanda 2. The film was slated to release in theaters worldwide on December 5, 2025, but was postponed just a day before its premiere show and full release.
Akhanda 2 Release Date: The eagerly awaited film, Akhanda 2, starring South Cinema superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna, may soon be released. There has been considerable anticipation for the sequel to the blockbuster film Akhanda, released in 2021. Initially, the film was scheduled to release globally in theaters on December 5, 2025, but its release was abruptly postponed at the last minute, disappointing fans. Now, reports are surfacing regarding a potential new release date for the film.
When Could ‘Akhanda 2’ Be Released?
According to media reports, Akhanda 2 could now be released in theaters on December 12, 2025. A report by Filmfare indicates that the makers have completed nearly all preparations and the film could hit the big screen this coming Friday. However, an official announcement regarding this new release date has not yet been made. Fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation from the makers.
Prior to the postponement, all arrangements for Akhanda 2 were finalized, including the premiere show. However, just a day before the scheduled release, the screening and subsequent full release were abruptly canceled. Initially, the makers stated on social media platforms that the release was postponed due to technical reasons.
However, the real reason later emerged. Media reports indicated a dispute had arisen between the film’s producers and a major production house, Eros Entertainment, regarding financial transactions. This matter even reached court, making it impossible to release the film on its original date.
Court Dispute and Makers’ Strategy
It is being reported that legal disputes had created obstacles regarding distribution rights and financial agreements for the film. Consequently, the makers were forced to postpone the release at the last minute. It is now believed that the dispute has been largely resolved, prompting the makers to restart planning for a new release date.
If Akhanda 2 is released on December 12, 2025, it will be competing with Bollywood’s big comedy film, Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karen 2. This could result in a significant battle at the box office. On one hand, South audiences are eagerly awaiting Nandamuri Balakrishna’s powerful action-fantasy film; on the other, Hindi-speaking audiences have their own distinct viewership for Kapil Sharma’s film.
Akhanda achieved tremendous success at the box office in 2021 after its release. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s dual role, impactful dialogues, and impressive action sequences captivated audiences. This is why fans are also holding high expectations for its sequel, Akhanda 2. It is said that this time the film’s scale will be even larger than before, with VFX, action, and fantasy elements also being enhanced.
