Security has been tightened in Jalandhar after a threatening email was received ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally scheduled for September 30. The email threatened to target the rally venue, schools, Shri Devi Talab Temple and buses.
A threatening email warning of attacks at multiple locations has surfaced ahead of Amit Shah’s rally in Jalandhar. Emails sent to some prominent private schools in and around Jalandhar warned them against attending the rally and advised them not to send children to the event.
Following the threat, police and security agencies have been put on alert. Security checks have been intensified at the rally venue and in surrounding areas. The cyber team of the authorities is working to trace the source of the email.
According to the information received, the threatening email mentioned Amit Shah’s rally, schools, Shri Devi Talab Temple and buses as potential targets. Security arrangements at the rally venue have already been tightened, and security teams, including a dog squad, have conducted checks there.
Amit Shah is scheduled to address a rally in Jalandhar on Wednesday at the concluding programme of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s anti-drug march. Before the rally, he will offer prayers at the Tripurmalini Shakti Peeth located within the Shri Devi Talab Temple complex.
Following the threat, security arrangements are being reviewed at the rally venue, the temple and other sensitive locations in the surrounding areas. The rally venue is located near NH-44 in Jalandhar’s Paragpur area. Preparations are underway for a large number of people to arrive at the event from different parts of Punjab.
Police and the cyber team are investigating the threatening email. Security agencies are currently focused on ensuring the security of the rally venue and all locations associated with the Home Minister’s programme.
