Anand Sharma Resigns: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma has resigned from his position as the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Department (DFA) of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). He stated that this decision was taken with the aim of including young and talented leaders in the organization. In his resignation, Sharma wrote that the reconstitution of the committee would ensure both continuity and energy in its functioning.

Anand Sharma has been active in the Congress party for a long time and is known for his deep understanding of matters related to foreign policy. He will remain a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and will continue to contribute strategically and deliberatively to the party.

His resignation comes shortly after completing a multi-nation trip with an all-party delegation following ‘Operation Sindoor’. This delegation was led by NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule.

The delegation included leaders from various political parties, including Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Singh Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan from the BJP, Vikramjit Singh Sahney from the Aam Aadmi Party, Manish Tewari from the Congress, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu from the TDP, and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin. During this trip, bilateral relations and global issues were discussed in various countries.

Reacting to Anand Sharma's resignation, Congress MP Manish Tewari praised Sharma's exceptional understanding of foreign affairs. He wrote on social media platform X that he had the privilege and honor of working with Anand Sharma for more than four decades. He particularly described Sharma's deep knowledge in matters related to Africa as ‘acute’.
