The new Enhanced Safety Alerts system will work similarly to Apple's existing emergency notification system. Currently, iPhones support AMBER Alerts, Public Safety Alerts, and Test Alerts. With the new update, users will receive additional options such as sound preferences and regional settings, allowing them to customize notifications according to their area.
The company has developed a distinct alert tone for this feature, enabling users to react promptly in emergency situations. This will be particularly helpful for people in areas where natural disasters such as earthquakes or storms are common.

Android Users Already Have This Feature
It is noteworthy that Android smartphones already have an earthquake alert feature. Google's system was launched in 2020 and has detected over 2,000 earthquakes to date. In 2023, it detected a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines and sent alerts to approximately 2.5 million people.
After beta testing is complete, Apple may release this feature to all users in the coming weeks. This will further strengthen iPhone's real-time safety and emergency response system.
