Ravi Prakash Sangwan, an Indian Army soldier from Kasni village in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, was cremated with state and military honours on Wednesday. He died of a heart attack during training in Bengaluru.
The mortal remains of Ravi Prakash Sangwan reached his ancestral home in Kasni village on Wednesday, where a large number of people gathered to pay their final respects. He had fallen ill during physical activity while undergoing training for the Havildar Promotion Course in Bengaluru. According to his family, he suffered a heart attack and died. His eight-year-old son, Dev Sangwan, lit his funeral pyre.
The mortal remains, wrapped in the national flag, were brought to his ancestral home in Charkhi Dadri for the final viewing. Villagers and people from surrounding areas gathered to pay their respects. Young people took out the final procession with a motorcycle convoy and raised patriotic slogans.
Ravi Prakash was subsequently cremated with state and military honours. Administrative officials, public representatives, villagers and people from nearby areas attended the cremation and expressed their condolences to the family.

According to his family, Ravi Prakash Sangwan joined the Indian Army in 2015. He was currently posted in Kashmir with the 54th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles. He was undergoing training in Bengaluru for the Havildar Promotion Course.
According to his father, Krishna Sangwan, Ravi Prakash suddenly fell ill during physical activity on the final day of training. He suffered a heart attack and died. The family said he was close to achieving his goal of completing the training and becoming a Havildar.
Ravi Prakash Sangwan was also active in sports. According to his father, he had won five gold medals in boxing. The family recalled his military service and achievements and said they were proud of his accomplishments.
The family has also expressed a resolve to prepare his eight-year-old son, Dev, to join the Army in the future and serve the country. During the cremation, people from the village and surrounding areas paid tribute to the soldier and assured the family of their support during the difficult time.
