Aryna Sabalenka Claims Second Consecutive US Open Title, Equaling Serena Williams' Record

In the US Open 2025, Belarus's star player Aryna Sabalenka won her second consecutive title by defeating Amanda Anisimova. With this victory, she equaled Serena Williams' 11-year-old record and secured her fourth Grand Slam trophy.

US Open 2025: Belarus's star player Aryna Sabalenka made history in the US Open 2025 Women's Singles final played at Flushing Meadows in New York. She defeated American player Amanda Anisimova in straight sets to claim her second consecutive US Open title. With this win, Sabalenka has equaled Serena Williams' 11-year-old record.

Equaling Serena Williams' Record

Sabalenka has now become the female player to match the record set by Serena Williams in 2014. By winning the US Open title twice consecutively at Flushing Meadows, Sabalenka has cemented her place in the tournament's history. In the first set, there were a total of five service breaks between the two players. Sabalenka broke Anisimova's serve for the third time with composure and aggression, taking a 5-3 lead. Shortly after, Anisimova's forehand went wide, giving the set to Sabalenka.

Sabalenka Clinches Title by Winning Tiebreaker

In the second set, at a score of 5-4, Sabalenka was in a position to win the match, but missed an overhead shot at 30-30, opening the door for Anisimova's comeback. Despite this, Sabalenka maintained her composure and gained control in the tiebreaker. She won the match on her third championship point to secure the title. This performance highlighted her mental strength and skill under pressure.

Wins First Grand Slam and Fourth Career Trophy

With this victory, Sabalenka clinched her first Grand Slam title of the 2025 season and the fourth major trophy of her career. The top-seeded player displayed outstanding and composed tennis against her eighth-seeded American opponent. Additionally, she recorded her 100th career win in a Grand Slam main draw and her 56th win of the season, the most on tour this year.

Anisimova's Strong Performance

Anisimova, who had defeated Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semifinals earlier this year, started this match with a 6-3 lead but ultimately fell behind. Despite the loss, the American player delivered a stellar performance and maintained hopes of entering the top 5 in the PIF WTA rankings for the first time. This is also expected to be a significant turning point in her career.
