Asaduddin Owaisi's Seemanchal Tour: A Political Challenge for Mahagathbandhan and Muslim Vote Mobilization

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on a four-day tour of Seemanchal. Rallies, roadshows in Kishanganj, Araria, and Purnia. Targeting RJD and Mahagathbandhan, attempts to activate the Muslim vote bank.

New Delhi: AIMIM National President Asaduddin Owaisi has arrived in Seemanchal for a four-day tour. This visit is creating political stir. Owaisi is targeting both the Mahagathbandhan and the BJP. His particular target is the RJD, which he accuses of not forming an alliance.

Rallies and Public Meetings in Muslim-Majority Areas

During his tour, Owaisi is holding public meetings and roadshows in Muslim-majority regions. In all four assembly constituencies of Kishanganj, Araria, and Purnia districts, his party is being widely discussed. Large numbers of people are gathering everywhere. Many are presenting themselves to Owaisi, hoping for a ticket.

Taunts at RJD and a Message to Mahagathbandhan

Owaisi is continuously targeting the RJD and Mahagathbandhan. He taunted them over four out of five MLAs joining the RJD in 2020. He stated that an alliance proposal was made from his side, but no response was received. He also quipped that someone was brought from Haryana to Bihar and made a Rajya Sabha member, but no one questions that.

If leaders can emerge from every caste, why not from Muslims?

In his rallies, Owaisi also stated that if leaders can emerge from every caste, why not from Muslims? This message aims to activate the Muslim vote bank. Owaisi also discussed the backwardness of Seemanchal, societal development, and corruption. He asserted that the voice of the Muslim community would be strengthened on the political platform.

A Challenge for Mahagathbandhan

Owaisi's visit could raise concerns for the Mahagathbandhan. His candidacy in the Muslim-majority areas of Kishanganj, Araria, and Purnia could affect Mahagathbandhan's vote bank. Political experts believe that the division of Muslim votes could become a threat to the Mahagathbandhan.

AIMIM's Performance in the 2020 Elections

In 2020, AIMIM fielded candidates in 14 seats in Seemanchal. Of these, they won five seats: Amaur, Bahadurganj, Jokihat, Baisi, and Kochadhaman. In Kishanganj district, where the Muslim population is 68 percent, the party won two seats. In Araria district, with a 43 percent Muslim population, AIMIM secured one out of six seats.

Vote Split in By-Elections

In a by-election, the Mahagathbandhan faced defeat in the Raniganj seat due to the AIMIM candidate. In the Gopalganj assembly by-election, Owaisi's candidate received over 12,000 votes, leading to the RJD losing by approximately two thousand votes.
