The Indian cricket team won the Asia Cup 2025 title by defeating Pakistan. However, despite the title victory, the Asia Cup trophy has not yet reached India.
New Delhi: India added another golden chapter to cricket history by winning the Asia Cup 2025 title, but the celebration remains incomplete even after the victory. The Indian cricket team has not yet received the Asia Cup trophy. This matter is in international headlines due to the obstinate stance of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is now preparing to raise this issue with the ICC (International Cricket Council) if the trophy does not reach India in the next day or two.
BCCI Issues Warning - 'If Trophy Doesn't Arrive in Two Days, Matter Will Be Raised with ICC'
'More than a month has passed, and the trophy has not yet reached us. We also wrote a letter to the ACC chief 10 days ago, but no concrete action has been taken. We hope that the trophy will reach the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai in the next day or two. If it does not, we will formally raise this matter at the ICC meeting on November 4.'
Saikia assured Indian cricket fans that no matter how long it takes, the trophy will definitely come to India.
Why Hasn't India Received the Trophy Yet?

According to reports, India won the Asia Cup 2025 title by defeating Pakistan in the final match. However, a controversy arose during the awards ceremony. ACC President Mohsin Naqvi wanted to present the trophy himself, but the Indian players refused to accept the trophy from his hands. The team stated that it would not be appropriate given the recent political and cricketing tensions.
Naqvi objected to this and left the ceremony venue with the trophy. Later, it was reported that he had locked the trophy away in the ACC office.
Tensions Escalate Again Between India and Pakistan
Significant tension was observed between the two teams during the Asia Cup. It even escalated to altercations between players on the field. According to reports, Indian players also refused to shake hands with Pakistani players after the match. This tension later became the cause of the trophy dispute. Naqvi remains insistent that he will personally hand over the trophy to the Indian players. In contrast, the BCCI has officially requested that the trophy be formally sent to India.
The BCCI does not consider this issue limited solely to the trophy. The board states that this matter is connected to India's honour and the dignity of its players. According to a senior official, "We achieved victory on the field; the trophy is merely a symbol. But this issue is about how an international body conducts itself. This should not be disrespectful towards any country."
The BCCI has clarified that if the trophy is not returned soon, it will be made an international issue concerning “sportsmanship and administrative decorum.”
