Bahadurgarh: A new controversy has erupted over police action in Bahadurgarh, Haryana. Following a complaint about a traffic jam in Patel Nagar, ACP Dinesh Kumar arrived and had vegetable vendors' carts removed using a JCB, a video of which went viral on social media. The incident not only sparked public outrage but also raised serious questions about police procedures.
Incident During Traffic Jam Clearance in Patel Nagar
Local residents in Bahadurgarh's Patel Nagar area had complained to the police about a traffic jam. Following the complaint, ACP Dinesh Kumar arrived at the scene with his team to control the situation. However, upon reaching the spot, he called for a JCB machine and instructed the removal of fruit and vegetable vendors' carts sitting by the roadside.
During this action, several carts and goods were damaged. In the video, the ACP himself was seen instructing the machine operator, which made the matter even more serious. As soon as the video went viral on social media, people called it a "humanity-devoid action" by the police.
Public Outcry on Social Media

After the video surfaced, Haryana Police faced criticism from local residents as well as on social media. People stated that using force or a machine to remove vegetable vendors is an inhuman step. Many users also questioned the police, asking if this is the way to maintain law and order?
Meanwhile, some people called it an injustice towards the poor and demanded a fair investigation from the police department. After the video rapidly went viral on Twitter and Facebook, “#Bahadurgarh” began trending.
Officials Reveal Error in Personal Judgment
After the matter escalated, senior officials of Jhajjar Police took cognizance. DCP Mayank Mishra issued a statement saying that the method adopted during the traffic jam removal operation was not in line with departmental policy. He termed it the ACP's “personal decision” and warned against repeating such mistakes in the future.
DGP O.P. Singh has also ordered an investigation into the entire incident. He clarified that police personnel should remain sensitive towards common citizens and it is essential to adopt a humanitarian approach in any action.
