New Rail Coach Manufacturing Unit to Gift a Major Boon to the State
In Umaria, Madhya Pradesh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML)'s new rail coach manufacturing unit 'Brahma'. This project will be developed over an area of 148 acres and will be directly connected by highway, rail, and air routes. The Defence Minister described it as a major achievement for the state, saying that it would not only provide employment to over 5000 people but also take the state's industrial development to new heights. On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that a river of employment is flowing in Madhya Pradesh, and the state government is committed to promoting indigenous industries. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with other senior officials, was also present at the event.
New Hope for Industry and Employment
Under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the grand foundation stone laying ceremony of the 'Brahma' project was held, which will prove to be a milestone on the industrial map of Madhya Pradesh. Spread over 148 acres, this unit will have direct connectivity to highways, rail, and air routes, which will expedite the access to both raw materials and products. The specialty of this project is the construction of lightweight aluminum coaches using state-of-the-art technology, which will meet the modern needs of the railways. The Ministry of Defence will also support MSME units in this area, providing opportunities for the development of small and medium industries. According to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, industrial investment in the state has reached nearly ₹30 lakh crore and a land bank of 48 lakh hectares has been prepared, which will enhance the ease of industry establishment.
Extensive Development of the Defence Sector in Madhya Pradesh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while mentioning the active defence units in Jabalpur, said that the state has the full potential for the development of the defence sector. He also said that if the leadership is b and dedicated, development is possible at a rapid pace. Under the 'Brahma' project, several railway products will be manufactured, especially high-speed coaches, which will strengthen India's transport system. This project is being developed at a cost of ₹1800 crore and is expected to be completed in two years. Rajnath Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies of indigenization and economic development, saying that BEML's contribution is significant in the country's economic development.
Unprecedented Progress in India's Economy
The Defence Minister also shed light on India's global economic position. In 2014, India's rank in the world economy was 15th, which has now risen to 4th. India's economy is growing at a rate of 6.5 percent, which is the highest among developing countries. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is making rapid economic progress, while some opponents are unable to accept it. Until 2014, India was completely dependent on foreign countries for defence equipment, but now, under 'Make in India', the country is manufacturing its own equipment and its exports have also increased. Defence exports have increased from ₹600 crore to over ₹24 thousand crore.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while mentioning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, said that Prime Minister Modi has resolved to give a befitting reply to terrorists. He stated that in Indian culture, action is considered above religion, and terrorists have been punished according to their actions. India, adopting the principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', wishes for the welfare of the world, but will not tolerate any challenge. Highlighting Madhya Pradesh's natural beauty, wildlife conservation, and tourism potential, he also emphasized environmental protection along with industrial development.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's Emphasis on Employment and Development
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed gratitude to the Defence Minister and the officials of the Ministry of Defence, stating that within just two days of his government being formed, industrial development projects worth ₹3600 crore have been launched. He said that BEML mainly operates in the defence sector, and the construction of coaches for the metro starting in Bhopal will further enhance the state's industrial capacity. Dr. Yadav also mentioned India's defence capabilities, saying that in matters like Doklam, India has ensured the security of not only itself but also neighboring countries. He described the Umaria project as a major opportunity for the state and Raisen district, where new avenues for development will open up in railway and defence production. The state government is continuously promoting employment-oriented industries through the industrial development journey and has already inaugurated industries worth ₹38 thousand crore through the Regional Industry Conclave.
Large-Scale Development Works in Madhya Pradesh
Dr. Mohan Yadav also shed light on the recent progress of Indian Railways and said that under Operation Sindoor, India brought Pakistan to its knees. He said that the state government is actively advancing several development works, including the river linking campaign. The Ken-Betwa Link project has also been launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, which will provide the necessary water for irrigation. The Chief Minister also spoke about providing employment to 5000 people in the Obaidullaganj area and assured all possible help to those affected by floods and rains. He said that Madhya Pradesh is committed to promoting indigenous production and basic facilities like leases, houses, schools, and colleges will also be provided to the people.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav's Support for Make in India
In a video message, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted the progress of the railway sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that 35 thousand kilometers of new tracks have been laid and 51 thousand kilometers of track have been electrified in the last 11 years. He said that more than 40 thousand coaches have been upgraded to lightweight coaches and new trains have been launched. Vaishnav described the Brahma project as a living example of the 'Make in India, Make for the World' resolution, which will provide more than 5000 jobs. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also described this project as important in terms of employment generation and industrial development and assured to develop it as an ideal Lok Sabha constituency.
BEML's Umaria Unit and Future Plans
President and CMD of BEML, Shantanu Rai, stated that the company has been bly advancing the country's rail, mining, and defence projects for the last 61 years. Established in 1964, this company has established a b hold in the defence, rail, and mining sectors. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the company has achieved several new milestones. The unit established in Umaria will be the second railway coach rolling stock unit, where lightweight aluminum coaches will be manufactured using state-of-the-art technology. BEML aims to prepare the first stock within 18 months. In the future, the manufacturing of defence equipment will also be started here. Special attention will be paid to safety and environment in this unit, which will strengthen social change and the Make in India vision. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav showed promptness in land allocation for the project, for which the company thanks him.
