Bihar Voter List Update: In preparation for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is undertaking a comprehensive revision and update of the voter lists across the state. A special revision program will be conducted across all 243 assembly constituencies. The ECI has set October 1, 2025, as the cut-off date. Citizens who attain the age of 18 by this date will be eligible to register as voters.

Special Revision Program Across 243 Assembly Constituencies

The special drive announced by the ECI will revise voter lists in all assembly constituencies of the state. The aim is to create an error-free and updated voter list, ensuring that no eligible citizen is deprived of their right to vote. This will be the final special revision drive of 2025, and the upcoming assembly elections will be conducted based on this revised list.

October 1st as the Decisive Date

According to the ECI, October 1, 2025, will be the benchmark date for adding new voters. Citizens who turn 18 by this date can register their names. This updated list will be the official voter list for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Total Voter Count Exceeds 78 Million

According to the final updated voter list of 2025, the total number of voters in Bihar has reached 78,022,933. Of these, 808,857 are youth aged 18-19. This demographic could play a decisive role in the upcoming elections. The Election Commission has launched a special campaign and set four qualifying dates to register young voters.

Four Qualifying Dates Determined

For the convenience of citizens, the ECI has designated four qualifying dates: January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st. Youth who attain the age of 18 by these dates can register their names. This will ensure maximum participation from young voters.

List Revision to Continue Until Nomination

Although the final voter list will be based on the status as of October 1, 2025, the Election Commission will continue to make corrections and add names to the voter list until the nomination process is complete. This will ensure that every eligible citizen is on the voter list before the elections.

Responsibilities Assigned to Officials

The Election Commission has directed all District Magistrates, Electoral Registration Officers, and Booth Level Officers to actively participate in this special drive. The entire process will be conducted transparently and impartially.

Training Programs Conducted

Prior to this, the ECI conducted multi-phased training programs on voter list revision and updates. These programs included government officials as well as representatives from political parties. The aim was to ensure that every unit involved in the electoral process is fully trained and efficient in fulfilling its responsibilities.

Official Schedule to be Announced Soon

The Election Commission will soon announce the detailed dates and phased work plan for this special revision program. Under this, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to contact voters and help eligible citizens fill out forms. The process will also remove deceased, relocated, or duplicate names from the voter list.
