Rajesh Kumar Thakur, the in-charge headmaster of Primary School Madhpur Tola in Darbhanga, Bihar, was shot and killed in Ganauli Ward Number-6 on Thursday evening. Police are investigating the possibility of a murder due to a love affair.
Darbhanga: A sensational murder took place in the Darbhanga district of Bihar on Thursday evening (August 28, 2025). Rajesh Kumar Thakur, the in-charge headmaster of the Primary School located in Madhpur Tola Sonpur and a BLO (Block Level Officer), was shot near Ganauli Ward Number-6. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
It is reported that the murder site was approximately 200 meters away from the school. Rajesh Kumar sustained bullet injuries to his chest and abdomen. The police have launched a full-scale investigation, and interrogations are underway to identify the perpetrators.
Rajesh Kumar Hailed from Madhubani District
Rajesh Kumar Thakur originally belonged to Sugapatti village in the Madhubani district. He was unmarried. He secured the teaching position through the बीपीएससी (Bihar Public Service Commission) examination 2-3 years ago. Some time later, he was transferred to a school in Fulparas.
It is said that he was scheduled to join his new school on Friday itself. His colleague, teacher Ramchandra Mahto, stated that Rajesh Kumar was very amiable and of a calm disposition. His colleagues and students are in deep shock upon hearing the news of his murder.

According to family and police sources, a love affair is being considered the primary motive behind the murder. The victim's brother alleged that Rajesh Kumar was involved in a love affair with a female teacher from his school. The teacher's husband had previously issued threats regarding this relationship.
