Bihar is experiencing abrupt weather fluctuations, with residents facing simultaneous heat, rainfall, thunderstorms, and the threat of hail. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for several parts of the state, placing six districts under an orange alert.
Districts under the orange alert are likely to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by b winds. There is also a possibility of hail in some areas, which may damage crops. According to the Meteorological Department, the sudden weather shift may trigger b storms in multiple locations, potentially leading to fallen trees and disruptions in electricity supply.
Despite the alerts for rain and storms, temperatures remain elevated in parts of the state. Rohtas recorded a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest area in Bihar. Heat and humidity are making daytime conditions difficult, while sudden weather changes in the evening are adding to the complexity.
Weather experts attribute the changes to a western disturbance and local meteorological activity. As a result, intense heat during the day is followed by storms and rainfall in the evening or night. This pattern may persist for the next few days, and people have been advised to remain cautious.
The conditions pose challenges for farmers, particularly as wheat harvesting is underway. The risk of sudden rain and hail increases the likelihood of crop damage. Farmers are making efforts to protect their harvested produce, but uncertainty in weather remains a concern.
Following the alert, the administration has intensified preparedness measures. Relevant departments have been instructed to remain vigilant and respond to any emergency situation. The electricity department has been specifically alerted to address potential disruptions caused by storms. Disaster management teams have also been kept ready.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors during adverse weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel. They have been cautioned against standing in open areas, under trees, or near electric poles. Drivers have been urged to exercise caution, as b winds and rain may reduce visibility and increase the risk of accidents.
The prevailing weather pattern presents simultaneous challenges, as expectations of relief from heat are offset by sudden storms and hail. Monitoring weather conditions in the coming days remains essential to avoid potential incidents.
