The path for the formation of a Youth Commission in Bihar is now completely clear. The proposal was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. This decision is considered a significant step taken by the state government in the interest of the youth.
Patna: The Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has taken a major initiative for the youth of the state. The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday approved the formation of the 'Bihar Yuva Aayog' (Bihar Youth Commission). The purpose of forming this commission is to provide employment opportunities, training, empowerment, and social security to the youth. This decision has been taken before the 2025 assembly elections, and it is seen as a strategy by the state government to woo the youth.
The Chief Minister Himself Shared the Information
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar shared information about this decision on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. He wrote: "The state government has decided to constitute the Bihar Youth Commission with the aim of training the youth of Bihar, providing them with employment opportunities, and making them self-reliant." Nitish Kumar said that this commission would not only work on the problems of the youth but would also provide policy advice to the government.
What will be the structure of the commission?
The Bihar Youth Commission will have a total of 10 members:
- 1 Chairman
- 2 Vice-Chairmen
- 7 Members
The maximum age limit for all members has been set at 45 years, so that the participation and representation of youth in the commission can be ensured.
On which issues will the commission work?
The government has very clearly defined the responsibilities of the Bihar Youth Commission. Its main functions will be:
- To train the youth of the state for employment.
- To ensure priority for local youth in the private sector.
- To ensure the protection of the interests of youth studying or working outside the state.
- To create programs and provide suggestions against alcohol, drugs, and other social evils.
- To establish coordination between departments in the field of education and employment.
- This commission will have the right to formulate and monitor policies for the youth by coordinating with all departments of the state government.
Preparation to woo the youth before the elections
According to analysts, this step by the government is a strategic move to win over the youth before the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. Issues like unemployment, migration, the quality of education, and priority for local youth in private jobs have been under discussion in the state for a long time. In such a situation, the 'Bihar Youth Commission' is being seen as a solution to these problems.
