The Vigilance Bureau Conducted a Raid at Bikram Majithia’s Residence in Amritsar, Leading to His Detention.
Punjab News: The Vigilance Bureau conducted a raid at the residence of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia in Amritsar. During the operation, Majithia was detained. He has accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of attempting to silence him through a fabricated case.
Raid Sparks Political Uproar
On Wednesday morning, Punjab’s political landscape was thrown into turmoil when a team from the Vigilance Bureau conducted a raid at the residence of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Amritsar. According to officials, the action was taken as part of an ongoing investigation, examining Majithia’s role in the matter.
Vigilance Bureau officials were accompanied by numerous Amritsar police personnel. Over 20 police vehicles were reportedly deployed along the streets surrounding Majithia’s home. The entire area was cordoned off, and access was restricted to prevent anyone from approaching the residence.
Detention Following Allegations of Political Retaliation
Following the raid, Bikram Singh Majithia was detained. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government is acting with a vengeful intent against him, fabricating a new false case when no concrete evidence was found in a previous drug-related case. He claims the government is now attempting to suppress his voice.
Targeted Criticism of the Bhagwant Mann Government on Social Media
Bikram Majithia posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Today, a raid was conducted at my residence by Vigilance SSP. Bhagwant Mann, no matter how many documents you provide, I will not be intimidated and will not remain silent. My voice will not be suppressed. I have consistently spoken on issues concerning Punjab and will continue to do so.”
Background of the Previous Case
It is worth noting that Bikram Majithia had previously been accused in a drug-related case. However, he was subsequently cleared after no substantial evidence was found against him. Now, with the Vigilance Bureau initiating action against him again, it is being viewed as an act of political retaliation.
The Shiromani Akali Dal and Majithia’s supporters believe that the Bhagwant Mann government is taking such steps to intimidate its opponents. The government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the action taken.
