Masked Assailants Open Fire Outside Congress Leader Nitesh Singh's Office in Bilaspur, Two Injured

Three masked assailants opened fire outside the office of Congress leader Nitesh Singh in Bilaspur, injuring two people. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, with a search for the attackers underway.

Bilaspur: A sensation gripped Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday evening when three masked assailants suddenly opened fire in front of the private office of Congress District Vice President Nitesh Singh. Two people were injured in the attack, while Nitesh Singh narrowly escaped unharmed. Police have set up blockades throughout the area and are investigating the case from multiple angles.

Three Motorcycle-Borne Assailants Opened Fire

Chaos erupted in Bilaspur's Masturi area around 6 PM on Tuesday evening when three unknown masked individuals on motorcycles suddenly unleashed a barrage of bullets. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants fired about a dozen rounds without any warning and then fled the scene.

In the firing, Congress leader Nitesh Singh's maternal uncle Chandrakant Singh Thakur and brother Raju Singh were injured. Chandrakant was shot in the leg and Raju in the arm. Both were immediately admitted to a local hospital, where their condition is currently reported as stable.

Police Tighten Siege After Firing

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh arrived at the scene. Blockades were immediately set up in the Masturi police station area and surrounding localities to cut off escape routes for the assailants.

Police have begun scouring footage from nearby CCTV cameras, and vehicle inspection drives have been intensified. Authorities have also instructed police in neighboring districts to remain vigilant, aiming for the swift apprehension of suspects.

Police Investigate Motive Behind Attack

Officials stated that the motive behind the attack is currently unclear. Police are advancing their investigation considering all angles, including old animosity, political rivalry, and personal enmity.

SSP Rajnesh Singh stated that the assailants would be identified soon and brought to justice. He also assured that security arrangements in the city are being further strengthened to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
