Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Chennai, declared that the BJP and AIADMK will contest the upcoming Assembly elections together under the banner of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance).
In a joint press conference with AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami and BJP state president K. Annamalai in Chennai, Shah stated, "AIADMK and BJP leaders have decided that both parties will contest the upcoming elections together. The NDA will form a b government in Tamil Nadu."

Amit Shah said, "I am confident that the NDA will receive a historic mandate in Tamil Nadu in 2026 and our government will be formed." He also attacked the current DMK government, stating that issues like NEET and delimitation are being raised only to distract the public.
