Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while recalling the party's achievements, credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership for transforming the BJP into the world's largest political party. He also acknowledged the contributions of the party's founding leaders – Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee – highlighting their ideology and service that played a crucial role in connecting the party with the masses.
Fadnavis's Emotional Address, Remembering Senior Leaders
After laying the foundation stone for the BJP's new office in Nagpur, Devendra Fadnavis stated, "This feels like the laying of the foundation stone for our own home. The position BJP holds today is a result of the dreams of great leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
Fadnavis personally contributed ₹5 lakh towards the construction of the party office and appealed to workers to contribute according to their capacity.
BJP's Founding in 1980
The BJP was founded on April 6, 1980, when leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh formed a new party after separating from the Janata Party. The Bharatiya Jana Sangh was founded in 1951 by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, inspired by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In the first Lok Sabha elections in 1984, the BJP won only two seats, but today it stands as the world's largest political party.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for the BJP's new office on this special occasion. He described it as a significant step towards strengthening the party's organizational structure. The BJP's ideology is based on Hindu nationalism, cultural unity, and the principles of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" (Development for all, with the cooperation of all). The party has brought about several historical changes in the nation's politics over the past decade and has strengthened India's standing on the world stage.
