British Army and Royal Navy Enhance Bomb Disposal Capabilities with L3Harris T4 Robots

The British Army and Royal Navy have deployed L3Harris T4 multi-mission robots for bomb disposal. These 50 robots are equipped with advanced control, high-definition cameras, and haptic feedback, ensuring the complete safety of operators and those nearby, and will prove helpful in dangerous operations.

Bomb Disposal Robots: The British Army and Royal Navy are now utilizing L3Harris T4 multi-mission robots for bomb disposal. Deployed in the United Kingdom, Cyprus, and Gibraltar, these robots ensure the safety of operators and surrounding individuals. A total of 50 robots will be deployed under this program, equipped with advanced control, high-definition cameras, and haptic feedback systems. The T4 robots, being small and lightweight, can operate in confined spaces and are capable of continuous operation for seven hours.

50 Robots to be Deployed

A total of 50 robots will be deployed under this program, costing approximately $43 million. These Medium Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) are equipped with advanced control, high-definition cameras, and haptic feedback systems. Haptic feedback helps the operator feel the objects the robot's arms come into contact with, making it easier to control and operate the robot.

Great Capability in a Small Package

The new T4s robots are significantly smaller and lighter than their predecessor, the T7, weighing around 100 kg. They are designed to operate in confined spaces and climb stairs, making them easy to transport. These robots can operate continuously for seven hours, have a speed exceeding 8 kilometers per hour, and can function in temperatures ranging from minus 20 to 60 degrees Celsius. Officials state that the T4s possess all the capabilities of the T7 and can safely neutralize threats even in tight spaces.

The introduction of this technology will greatly assist the British Army and Navy in ensuring human safety during dangerous bomb disposal operations, while also increasing operational capability and speed.
