A senior BSF officer confirmed the incident, stating that the jawan was released unharmed within hours.

The incident took place near Sutiar, Noorpur Chandni Chowk area, on the India-Bangladesh international border in Murshidabad district. The jawan was patrolling near Kathalia village, an area connected to a BSF border outpost, when some miscreants from Chapai Nawabganj district of Bangladesh attacked and dragged him across the border. This area is reportedly known for its vulnerability to infiltration and smuggling activities.
Release Secured Through a Flag Meeting
Upon learning of the incident, the BSF immediately contacted the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). A flag meeting was held between the border security agencies of both countries, where the Indian side demanded the immediate release of the jawan.
