The administration in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh has intensified enforcement measures on the safety of school students by launching a special inspection drive of school vehicles, which will continue until April 15.

Under the campaign, joint teams from the transport department and police are conducting detailed inspections of school buses, vans, and other vehicles. The checks include vehicle fitness, documentation, driver qualifications, and compliance with safety standards.

Authorities are verifying whether vehicles are overloaded, whether seat belts and other safety equipment are in place, and whether drivers possess valid licences and adequate experience. Inspections also cover the availability of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency exits.

Officials stated that negligence often leads to non-compliance with regulations in school vehicles, posing risks to student safety. On the first day of the drive, several vehicles were found with deficiencies. Challans were issued, and some vehicles were temporarily taken off the road.

Authorities have made it clear that strict action will be taken against violators and that any form of negligence will not be tolerated. The campaign also aims to raise awareness among school managements and vehicle operators about adherence to safety norms.

The administration has urged parents to monitor the condition of school vehicles used by their children and report any irregularities to the authorities. Schools have also been directed to conduct regular inspections of their vehicles and ensure full compliance with safety standards.

The campaign is expected to strengthen student safety measures and improve the school transport system in the district, with further enforcement actions likely in the coming days.
