Chennai: Panic erupted at the Press Trust of India (PTI) office in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, on Friday after an unknown individual issued a bomb threat. Police immediately evacuated the office and dispatched the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS) to the scene. It is currently unclear who made the threat.
Police officials stated that security and investigations have been heightened at the PTI office in Kodambakkam, Chennai. Employees were safely evacuated, and an intensive search operation was launched at the site.
Police Action Following the Threat
For security reasons, police evacuated the office and launched an investigation to trace the source of the threat. Officials stated that no risks would be taken, and surveillance has been increased throughout the area.

Actor Vijay Had Also Received a Threat Earlier
Just a day before this incident, superstar Thalapathy Vijay of the Tamil film industry had also received a bomb threat at his home. The threat was made via an email stating that a bomb had been placed at his Neelangarai residence.
Police immediately investigated and found the threat to be false. Actor-politician Vijay is provided Y-category security by the central government, but this threat caused a stir among him and his fans.
Security Increased at Vijay's Residence and Office
Immediately after receiving the threat, Chennai Police dispatched the bomb disposal squad to both the office and Vijay's residence. Both locations were thoroughly searched, and no suspicious objects were found.
Officials stated that security has been increased at media offices and public spots. The investigation is still ongoing, and police are working to identify the unknown individual who made the threat.
