Bihar Elections 2025: Preparations for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are in full swing, and all parties are focusing on precise strategies and the selection of b candidates. In this context, political activity has intensified in the Daraunda Assembly seat of Siwan district. Currently, this seat is held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Karmajeet Singh alias Vyas Singh is its MLA.
The Daraunda Assembly constituency is part of the Siwan Lok Sabha constituency and is a general category seat. A key feature of this seat is the dominant influence of the Rajput community. It will be interesting to see in the upcoming elections whether the BJP can maintain its hold on this seat or whether a new face will emerge victorious.
Prashant Kishor's Entry Makes the Election More Interesting
In the 2025 Assembly elections, Prashant Kishor's party, Jan Suraaj, has announced its intention to contest all 243 seats. The entry of this newly formed political party is likely to make the contest triangular or quadrangular in Daraunda and other seats. Jan Suraaj's local public relations and focus on grassroots issues could challenge the traditional parties.
2020 Assembly Elections: BJP's Victory
In the Bihar Assembly elections held in 2020, Karmajeet Singh of the BJP won the Daraunda seat. He received a total of 71,934 votes. His nearest rival, Amarnath Yadav, who was from CPI-ML, received 60,614 votes. The BJP won this seat by a margin of approximately 11,000 votes. This difference indicates that the competition was quite tough, and any small factor could have changed the outcome.
2015 Assembly Elections: JDU's Victory
In 2015, Kavita Singh of JDU won the Daraunda seat. She received 66,255 votes. Meanwhile, Jitendra Swami of BJP was in second place, receiving 53,033 votes. In that election, the BJP and JDU contested separately, whereas in 2020, both contested together under the NDA.
Caste Dynamics: Rajputs' Influence Prominent
Caste dynamics play a crucial role in the outcome of elections in the Daraunda Assembly seat. According to the 2020 data, the total number of voters here is approximately 3,19,225. Among these, the Singh (Rajput) community accounts for approximately 42,776 voters, which is about 13.4 percent of the total voters. Apart from them, the number of Yadav, Kurmi, Bhumihar, Dalit, and Muslim community voters is also significant in this area.
Development Work and Local Issues
For winning elections, caste dynamics alone are not sufficient. Voters now expect concrete action from candidates on issues such as regional development, roads, health, education, and employment. Some work has been done on these issues in the Daraunda Assembly constituency so far, but the public's expectations have not yet been fully met. In such a situation, the candidate who focuses on these subjects may get the support of the voters.
