15 AAP Councilors Form New Party in Delhi, Shaking MCD Politics

Fifteen Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilors in Delhi's MCD have broken away. Mukesh Goyal has formed a new party, 'Indraprasth Vikas Party,' sparking a new controversy in Delhi's political landscape.

Delhi News: Delhi's political scene has taken a new turn. Several senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have announced the formation of a separate faction within the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD). This new faction, named 'Indraprasth Vikas Party,' will be led by Mukesh Goyal. This move is considered a significant development in Delhi's politics and could pose a challenge to the AAP.

BJP's Victory in MCD Elections and AAP's Boycott

Last month's MCD mayoral election saw BJP councilor Raja Iqbal Singh win with 133 votes, while Congress candidate Mandeep secured only 8. Notably, the Aam Aadmi Party boycotted the mayoral election, not even fielding a candidate. This led to reports of internal dissent within the party, culminating in the current split.

Formation of a New Party Under Mukesh Goyal's Leadership

Senior AAP leader and former Leader of the House in the MCD, Mukesh Goyal, has chosen a different path. He and his supporters have formed a new political organization, the 'Indraprasth Vikas Party.' According to Goyal, 15 councilors have joined this new party.

Mukesh Goyal and some of his associates were previously associated with the Congress before joining the AAP. Goyal also contested the Assembly elections as an AAP candidate from the Adarsh Nagar constituency. This move will reshape Delhi's political equations.

Expectation of Change in Delhi's Politics with the New Party

The formation of the Indraprasth Vikas Party will inject new dynamics into the MCD's political landscape. This faction will attempt to challenge the AAP's dominance. Political analysts believe this new party could alter the political equations in the MCD and impact upcoming elections.

AAP's Stance and Future Strategy

So far, there has been no official response from the Aam Aadmi Party regarding this split. Insiders within the party suggest that the leadership is concerned about this rebellion and efforts are underway to resolve the matter. It remains to be seen how the party will address this challenge.
