NEW DELHI: A violent incident involving cable owner Anil in Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar area has shocked the public. It is alleged that some youths brutally beat him with sticks and lathis for refusing their demands for extortion and free internet/cable connections. The full CCTV video of the incident has emerged and is rapidly going viral on social media.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, actively working to identify and apprehend the accused. The victim informed the police that incidents of his cable wires being cut and threats had been ongoing for several days.
Dispute Over Cable Wire Cutting
A long-standing dispute regarding the cutting of cable wires had been ongoing in the Ambedkar Nagar area. According to the victim, Anil, a person named Rustam and his associates had demanded a monthly extortion of Rs 10,000 and free internet/cable connections from him on August 28.
Anil rejected these demands. Following this, cable wires in his area began to be cut continuously. The matter gradually escalated into violence, eventually leading to a physical altercation and beating on October 4.
Anil Subjected to Violent Attack
On the night of October 4, around 11 PM, Anil went out to inspect the cable network in his Block 1 area. Suddenly, 5 to 8 youths surrounded him and attacked him with sticks and lathis. His hair was grabbed, and he was brutally beaten.
After the CCTV footage of this incident surfaced, the matter went viral on social media. The video clearly shows that the victim was completely helpless and the attack was extremely violent.
Police Initiate Investigation in Ambedkar Nagar
Anil informed the police that he was targeted because he refused to comply with the illegal demands of the assailants. Police immediately registered a case at Ambedkar Nagar police station and commenced an investigation.
Police sources stated that the accused youths are being identified, and strict action will be taken soon. Additional security forces have been deployed throughout the area to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
