Delhi: A shocking incident occurred on Wednesday involving Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The incident took place while the Chief Minister was holding her weekly public hearing at her residence. According to officials, as a man approached with a complaint, he suddenly slapped the Chief Minister. Security personnel present at the scene immediately subdued and detained the accused.
Accused Pretended to Lodge a Complaint
Officials at the Chief Minister's residence stated that the accused entered under the guise of attending the public hearing. He initially handed some papers to Rekha Gupta. Following this, he suddenly started shouting and, in a flash, slapped the Chief Minister. Those present, including security personnel, were stunned by the incident.
Accused in Custody, Police Investigating
Immediately after the incident, the accused was apprehended and taken to the Civil Lines police station. Initial investigations reveal that the accused is approximately 35 years old. The police are interrogating him to determine his actual motive.
Reactions from BJP Leaders
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar confirmed the incident. He stated that the accused came under the pretext of the public hearing. After handing the Chief Minister some papers, he suddenly attacked her. BJP leaders have bly condemned this attack.
BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri said that the attack was probably a deliberate attempt to derail the public hearing. He called it an attack on democracy.
BJP leader Tajinder Bagga tweeted that he was shocked by the news. He expressed concern about the safety of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and wished her a speedy recovery. Bagga wrote that Bajrang Bali should protect her.

The incident was condemned not only by the BJP but also by the Aam Aadmi Party. Party leader Anurag Dhanda said that such incidents are very serious. He stated that the Delhi Police is investigating the matter and the full picture will only become clear after the truth comes out.
