According to the Meteorological Department, good rainfall was recorded in different parts of Delhi on Saturday. 9.7 mm in Palam, 9.2 mm in Ayanagar, and good rainfall in many areas including Lodhi Road. In IGI Airport and RK Puram of the capital, heavy rain caused waterlogging on the roads, which also affected traffic for a while.
Temperature Drops, Showers of Relief
The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius, which was one degree less than normal. The minimum temperature recorded was 28.7 degrees Celsius, which was about 0.8 degrees higher than normal. However, due to the rain, a drop in temperature was recorded, which brought relief to the Delhiites who were struggling with the humidity.
According to meteorologists, the progress of the monsoon is currently going well and there is a possibility of good rainfall in the capital in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Sunday, which predicts cloudy skies, lightning, and light to moderate rain with winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour.
Weather to remain like this for four days
The Regional Center of the Meteorological Department said that the weather in Delhi-NCR is likely to remain almost the same for the next four days. There will be cloudy skies, light to moderate rain in between, and the winds may also pick up speed. The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 33-35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature between 26-28 degrees Celsius for the next few days.
Experts say that this time, the effect of moisture-laden winds will be more during the monsoon, which may also increase the frequency of rainfall. Apart from this, waterlogging and traffic jams may also be seen in some areas of Delhi, for which the Municipal Corporation and other departments have been instructed to be on alert mode.
People breathed a sigh of relief
After the rain on Saturday, the weather in the capital became pleasant. At many places, people were seen enjoying tea and samosas with family and friends. Children enjoyed playing in the rain, while the elderly also felt relief from the heat amidst the showers. Senior scientists of the Meteorological Department say that the monsoon situation in the capital is b and good rainfall is expected till the first week of July. They also appealed to the people to be careful, as b winds and lightning strikes can also occur.
