Delhi Police Halt INDIA Bloc MPs' Protest, Sparking Democracy Concerns

Sanjay Raut said, 'We are MPs, not terrorists. More than 300 MPs of the India Bloc wanted to protest peacefully against the Election Commission, but the Delhi Police stopped them. This is a matter of concern for democracy.'

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have stopped a protest by MPs of the India Alliance (INDIA Bloc) against the Election Commission (ECI), once again raising questions in political circles about whether representatives of the main pillars of democracy can also be prevented from raising their voices. The India Bloc MPs were heading to the Election Commission with their demands regarding Special Summary Revision (SIR) and allegations of 'vote theft,' but the Delhi Police stopped their progress by erecting barricades. Reacting sharply to this incident, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut described the police's attitude as a threat to democracy.

Police Stop MPs' Protest

More than 300 MPs of the India Alliance have been questioning the functioning of the Election Commission for some time. They have made allegations related to the Special Summary Revision and irregularities related to EVMs and voter lists. In this context, they wanted to protest outside the Election Commission office in Delhi, but the police stopped the protest. Amidst heavy security arrangements, the Delhi Police blocked the MPs' path by barricading them.

Sanjay Raut Raises Questions on Police Action

In this matter, Shiv Sena's prominent leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut bly criticized the police's action in a press conference. He questioned whether the members of parliament are terrorists or goons that the police are afraid of. He said, 'We are respected MPs of India, and we were going to express our views peacefully. We have no weapons, we are non-violent. Yet we were stopped. Is this respect for democracy?' Sanjay Raut further said that it is a basic right of democracy that MPs convey their message to the Election Commission. But when the Delhi Police themselves stop the MPs, this situation is worrying.

Crisis on Democracy and Civil Rights

Sanjay Raut said that such actions are against the basic principles of democracy in the country's capital. He said, 'Democracy has given us the right to speak openly on issues related to our franchise and the election process. When MPs themselves are prevented from raising their voices, it is a big threat to democracy.' He said that they are only raising questions before the Election Commission, which is the right of every citizen.

Questions on Voter List, EVM and Election Process

The India Bloc MPs are demanding answers from the Election Commission on the Special Summary Revision and irregularities in the voter list, the reliability of EVM machines, and allegations of 'vote theft.' They have alleged that there is no transparency in the election process and it should be investigated.

Sanjay Raut said, 'We have been raising these issues repeatedly, but no one paid attention to them. Now when we raise our voice, why are we being stopped?'

Tension Increased in Political Circles

After this action by the Delhi Police, the political atmosphere has become tense. Opposition parties have described it as contempt of democracy and parliament. Many leaders have termed this action of the police as wrong and have demanded a clear answer from the central government in this matter. At the same time, the government has said that maintaining law and order is their priority and no one will be allowed to go beyond the rules.

The demand of the India Bloc MPs is that the Election Commission should increase transparency and conduct an impartial investigation into all the allegations. They want the election process to be completely fair and secure so that every citizen's vote can truly matter. The MPs have said that they will continue to raise their voice peacefully and will make every possible effort to protect democracy.
