Bengaluru: Congress leader DK Shivakumar: Deputy CM DK Shivakumar recently sang an RSS anthem in the Karnataka Assembly, prompting the BJP to target the Congress and fueling speculation about him joining the BJP. After the controversy escalated, Shivakumar clarified that he is a Congressman by birth and will remain with the Congress for life. He clarified that this action had nothing to do with supporting or sending a message to any party, but rather that he had studied all political parties and the activities of the RSS.

Controversy in the Assembly: DK Shivakumar Sings RSS Anthem

DK Shivakumar sang this anthem while the topic of the stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was being discussed. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka reminded him of his early association with the RSS.

In response, the Deputy Chief Minister started singing 'Namaste Sadaa Vatsale', which sparked a heated debate in the assembly. The video of this also went viral on social media.

BJP's Attack and Criticism of Congress

Immediately after the incident, the BJP targeted the Congress. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said that most Congress leaders are now praising the RSS. He alleged that internal differences are increasing in the Congress party and that party MP Rahul Gandhi is not being taken seriously.

Bhandari said, "DK Shivakumar was seen singing the RSS anthem in the Karnataka Assembly. Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family's close aides are now directly in ICU/Coma mode. The Congress has now started praising the RSS, whereas earlier the party had criticized PM Modi's Independence Day speech on the RSS's contribution."

DK Shivakumar Presents Clarification

Amidst the viral video and raised questions, DK Shivakumar presented his clarification. He clarified that none of his actions are against the Congress party. He said, "I am a Congressman by birth. As a leader, I should have information about both my opponents and friends. I have researched all political parties. There is no question of joining hands with the BJP. I will lead the Congress and remain with it for life."

Shivakumar further said that there was no direct or indirect message in his singing the RSS anthem. It was merely his way of gaining political and social information. He explained that it was important for him to know how the RSS is running institutions in Karnataka and making its reach in schools in every district and taluk.
