Delivery partners associated with Ekart staged a protest in Sultanpur against low payments, alleging they receive only Rs 10 to Rs 12 per parcel.
Protesters alleged that the current payment of Rs 10 to Rs 12 per parcel is insufficient compared to their expenses and workload. They stated that rising inflation, fuel costs, and daily living expenses have made it difficult to sustain livelihoods with such earnings.
Delivery partners demanded the implementation of a minimum wage and an increase in payment rates. They said that while work pressure continues to increase, compensation has not been adjusted accordingly.
Participants also stated that they do not receive any form of social security or permanent benefits, which further weakens their financial condition. They called for intervention from both the government and the company.
A large number of delivery workers gathered during the protest and raised slogans in support of their demands. Police personnel were present at the site to monitor the situation and ensure that no disorder occurred. The protest was described as peaceful.
No official statement has been issued by the company so far. Protesters stated that they would intensify their agitation if their demands are not addressed soon.
The issue highlights the conditions faced by delivery workers in the gig economy, where the absence of fixed wages and social security remains an ongoing concern.
Delivery partners in Sultanpur continue their protest and are awaiting a response from the administration.
