The funeral of 114-year-old Fauja Singh will take place on July 20, 2025, at 12 PM at the cremation ground in his ancestral village of Beas Pind. According to his son Harvinder Singh, close relatives of Fauja Singh have arrived in India from Canada and England to attend the funeral. The funeral was delayed by a few days because the entire family wanted all close friends and loved ones to be present for this final farewell.
Passed Away in an Accident
On July 14th, while Fauja Singh was taking his daily walk near his village of Beas Pind on the Pathankot-Jalandhar National Highway around noon, a speeding car hit him forcefully. Fauja Singh died on the spot in this accident. Punjab Police have taken the driver of the speeding car into custody along with the vehicle, and legal proceedings are underway.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jalandhar Rural district, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, personally visited Fauja Singh's home and met with his family. Assuring the family of all possible assistance, he said that the loss of an inspiration like Fauja Singh is a deep shock not only for Punjab but also for millions of Punjabis and sports enthusiasts around the world.
The administration stands with the family in this time of grief. Fauja Singh's passing has caused a wave of mourning in Punjab, as well as in the British, Canadian, and global Punjabi community.
