The FBI carried out this operation in the Dearborn area of Michigan state. This area is known for its large population of Arab-Americans in the US, and it is also home to the headquarters of Ford Motor Company. Local police confirmed that an FBI team raided the area on Friday morning and took suspects into custody. However, it has not yet been clarified how many locations were involved in the operation or the number of people arrested.

According to various US media reports, the FBI received information a few weeks ago from an online chat room where some young suspects were discussing an attack during Halloween week. According to sources, this conversation was inspired by violence and religious extremism. The FBI's initial investigation has revealed that:

  • Some members of the suspects were allegedly in contact with online ISIS-sympathizing groups.
  • In their conversations, they had mentioned a plan to attack on “Halloween Night”.
  • The FBI identified these individuals through digital tracking and cyber monitoring.
  • The timely action by the FBI prevented a potentially major terrorist attack.

The FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice have jointly initiated an investigation into this matter. Michigan State Police were also involved in this operation.
