Karnataka: Former BJP MP from Karnataka, Anant Kumar Hegde, is once again embroiled in controversy. Dabaspet Police have registered an FIR against him concerning a road rage incident. Complainant Saif Khan has alleged that Hegde and his associates not only attacked his family but also made casteist remarks and death threats. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Attack While Returning from Wedding

The incident is reported to have occurred on Monday around 3:40 PM. Saif Khan and his family were returning from a relative's wedding in Tumakuru. As they reached near Nijagal on NH-48, a white XUV700 car overtook and stopped their Innova Crysta car. According to the complaint, three people, including Anant Hegde, were in the SUV. It is alleged that one person shouted that he was from "the department" and forcibly stopped the vehicle.

Allegations of Assault and Tooth Breakage

Saif Khan alleged that after stopping the car, Hegde and his associates attacked him, his brother Salman, and his uncle Ilyas Khan. In the assault, Saif and Salman's teeth were broken, and their mouths bled. Salman was pulled out of the car and severely beaten. Three individuals sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to Dabaspet Government Hospital for treatment.

Mother Also Allegedly Maltreated

According to the complaint, Saif's mother Gul Unnisa, aunt Jabina Taj, cousin Jabina Khanam, and the landlord's daughter Saniya were also present in the car at the time of the incident. It is alleged that Anant Hegde also assaulted Saif's mother. Her clothes were pulled, her throat was grabbed, and she was pushed to the ground. It was also stated that before the assault, Hegde identified them as Muslims and ordered the attack.

Allegation of Death Threats by Shooting

The complaint also mentions that a person accompanying Hegde, who identified himself as a gunman, threatened to shoot the entire family. Given the seriousness of the assault, the police have registered a case, naming Anant Hegde as Accused No. 1 (A1), his gunman as A2, and the driver as A3.
