A girl in Dumka has filed a complaint of gang rape by four to five youths during a truck journey. Her boyfriend was beaten. Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the accused.
Dumka: A horrific incident of gang rape of a minor tribal girl has come to light in Dumka district of Jharkhand on Monday (August 25, 2025). Four to five youths allegedly raped the girl in the Gumra forest of Kathikund police station area and also attacked her boyfriend. After the incident, the girl was sent to Dumka Sadar Hospital for medical examination.
Station in-charge Tripurari Kumar said that the girl belongs to a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police immediately started investigation and claimed that the accused youths would be arrested soon.
Girl Files Gang Rape Complaint
According to the police, the girl was travelling to Dumka in a truck with her boyfriend. On the way, four to five youths stopped them. It is alleged that the youths gang-raped the girl and beat up her boyfriend.
The station in-charge said that the girl informed the police station about the incident in the morning. Since she was speaking in a tribal dialect, an interpreter had to be arranged before registering the FIR so that the complaint could be fully understood.
Police Action and Interrogation in Gang Rape Case
Kathikund police station has started questioning four youths, considering the seriousness of the incident. The police said that all the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitamber Singh Kherwar told the media that the victim has undergone a medical examination and her condition is stable. He said that the accused will be brought to justice soon in accordance with the law.
