In the Tikari assembly constituency of Gaya district, villagers attacked the convoy of HAM MLA Anil Kumar. The MLA was injured in this stone-pelting incident, which stemmed from issues related to drain construction, while the police have detained 9 people.
Gaya: Amidst the Bihar assembly elections, a disturbing incident has emerged from the Tikari assembly constituency in Gaya district. Anil Kumar, the candidate of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and current MLA, was pelted with stones by villagers during a public outreach campaign in Dighaura village. The MLA and several supporters were injured in this attack, leading to chaos at the scene.
Attack on MLA During Public Outreach Campaign
According to information, on Tuesday, MLA Anil Kumar had arrived in Dighaura village of his Tikari constituency for a public outreach. As soon as he began interacting with local residents, some villagers expressed their displeasure over the lack of drain and road construction. The situation quickly escalated, and the crowd began pelting bricks and stones at the MLA's convoy.
In the attack, the windows of several vehicles were shattered, and the MLA sustained injuries to his head and hand. Security personnel immediately escorted him to a safe location. Several party workers were also injured during the incident and were admitted to a nearby hospital.
Nine Accused Arrested for Violence

Upon receiving information about the incident, DM Shashank Shubhankr and SSP Anand Kumar reached the spot. They inspected the entire scene and met with the injured. The police took swift action, detaining 9 villagers, while the search for others is ongoing.
A case has been registered at the Panchanpur Police Station in this regard. According to police officials, CCTV footage from the vicinity and local video clips are being examined to identify the culprits. The administration has stated that strict action will be taken against those who take the law into their own hands.
Villagers' Outrage Sparked by Delay in Development Works
The residents of Dighaura village had long been demanding the construction of drains and roads. They allege that despite repeated applications and complaints, no concrete steps were taken. It was amidst this resentment that when the MLA arrived for election campaigning, the villagers reacted with anger.
Local residents state that the problem of waterlogging and filth has persisted in the area for years. Meanwhile, some believe that political rivalry also fueled the situation.
