The matter escalated when Saurav Gupta and Gaurav Gupta, associated with People For Animals, reported that despite orders from the Supreme Court and the Noida District Court, they were not provided with witness protection. Elvish Yadav was also arrested in this snake venom case, which came to light in December 2023. It is alleged that their security was withdrawn in January 2025, raising questions about the administration.
Security Not Provided Despite Supreme Court Order
In Ghaziabad, action was taken by the administration after the Supreme Court order to ensure the security of Elvish Yadav case witnesses Saurav and Gaurav Gupta was not complied with. On Monday, September 8, former station officer of Nandgram police station, Dharmpal, was suspended. Prior to this, in May 2025, the Supreme Court had directed that the two brothers be provided security.
Saurav Gupta stated that security was not deployed for him and his brother, after which he informed the Supreme Court about this violation. The court took action immediately before the hearing, and the Ghaziabad police provided two gunmen each to the two brothers.
Dharmpal Did Not Comply with the Order
Saurav Gupta stated that the then Kotwal Dharmpal did not comply with the Supreme Court's order. The lack of witness protection intensified the seriousness of the case. The Ghaziabad Police Commissioner took action against Dharmpal and suspended him.
Along with this decision, the administration deployed additional gunmen to ensure security, so that the witnesses in the Elvish Yadav case remain safe and the justice process is not affected.
Elvish Yadav Case
In December 2023, Saurav and Gaurav Gupta, associated with People For Animals, exposed the snake venom case against Elvish Yadav. Elvish Yadav was arrested in this case, and orders for witness protection were issued by the Supreme Court and the Noida District Court.
