Gold and silver prices in India recorded a marginal decline on May 28, 2026, offering some respite to buyers planning purchases in the domestic bullion market. After reaching record levels over recent days, prices of both precious metals eased slightly.
According to experts, gold and silver prices are under pressure due to the strengthening of the U.S. dollar and volatility in international markets. However, market fluctuations persist amid tensions in the Middle East, global economic uncertainty, and investor demand for safe-haven assets.
In India, 24-carat gold was trading at around ₹1,59,000 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at approximately ₹1,46,000 per 10 grams. Prices remain elevated due to demand linked to the wedding season and investment purchases, although the market recorded slight softness compared with recent days.
Experts said a ber dollar in global markets has increased pressure on gold prices. Discussions surrounding interest rates by the U.S. Federal Reserve have also affected precious metals.
Silver prices also recorded a marginal decline. Silver prices in the country stood at around ₹2,84,900 per kilogram, about ₹100 lower than the previous trading day. During May 2026, silver prices registered a rise of more than 11 percent.
