Gonda district has approximately 2.41 lakh farmers who have not yet registered in the Farmer Registry, which is causing them problems in availing the benefits of government agricultural schemes.
Meanwhile, the registration target in the district was set at 5.23 lakh farmers, out of which only 2.82 lakh farmers have registered so far.
Many farmers have discrepancies in names between their land records (Khatauni) and Aadhaar cards.
Technical glitches such as mobile numbers not being linked to Aadhaar, and names appearing in the 'order column' after land consolidation (Chakbandi), sale deeds (Bainama), and wills (Vasiyat) are hindering the registration process. A lack of awareness among farmers regarding the registration process and its importance has also been observed.
In such a situation, farmers who are deprived of registration will not be able to avail the benefits of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Crop Insurance Scheme, Kisan Credit Card Scheme, etc., in a timely manner.
Officials have stated that efforts are underway to simplify registration through awareness camps and public service centers. Additionally, special campaigns are to be launched to provide easy facilities to inaccessible farmers and to overcome technical hurdles.
