Police are continuing to question a juvenile detained in connection with the killing of his brother, sister-in-law and young nephew in Gorakhpur. During interrogation, the accused has reportedly made several statements regarding his relationship with family members. According to police, the juvenile claimed he was troubled by the atmosphere at home and was also under mental stress after discontinuing his studies.
Police sources said the accused stated during questioning that he did not receive sufficient importance within the family and often felt neglected. He also claimed that he frequently faced reprimands at home and, on several occasions, had to look for a place to sleep within the house.
Police officials, however, said the statements made by the accused during interrogation are being independently verified. The claims have not yet been officially confirmed, and a clearer picture of the incident will emerge only after the investigation is completed.
The incident has left the locality in shock. Neighbours said the family appeared normal and that no one had anticipated that tensions within the household had escalated to the point of such a crime.
Police have sent evidence collected from the crime scene for forensic examination. Investigators are also questioning other family members, neighbours and acquaintances to better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As the accused is a minor, further proceedings in the case will be conducted under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Board. Police have not disclosed the juvenile’s identity and are exercising caution in sharing sensitive information related to the case.
