Gujarat Giants beat Delhi Capitals by three runs in WPL 2026 match at Vadodara

Gujarat Giants secured a three-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the 17th match of the Women’s Premier League 2026 in Vadodara after posting 174 and defending the total in a last-ball finish.

The 17th match of the Women’s Premier League 2026 produced a close finish in Vadodara, where Gujarat Giants defeated Delhi Capitals by three runs in a last-ball contest.

After losing the toss, Gujarat Giants batted first and posted 174 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Beth Mooney, who scored 58 runs, while Anushka Sharma contributed 39 runs to maintain momentum. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, Gujarat added late runs through Tanuja Kanwar, who scored 21 runs off 11 balls to take the total beyond 170.

For Delhi Capitals, Shree Charani was the most effective bowler, finishing with figures of four wickets for 31 runs in four overs. Shinel Henry claimed two wickets.

Chasing a target of 175, Delhi Capitals made a below-par start. Opening batter Shefali Verma was dismissed for 14, while Lizelle Lee scored 11. Laura Wolvaardt made 24 and captain Jemimah Rodrigues added 16, but none of the top-order batters were able to convert their starts.

At the end of 16 overs, Delhi Capitals were 115 for six, leaving the chase in Gujarat Giants’ favour. The match shifted in the closing overs as Nikki Prasad and Sneh Rana added quick runs. The pair scored 23 runs in the 17th over, including four boundaries by Prasad, followed by 10 runs in the 18th over.

Delhi then scored 20 runs off the 19th over bowled by Ashleigh Gardner, taking 53 runs from three overs and bringing the match level heading into the final stages.
