In Gumla district of Jharkhand, two elderly individuals and a 2.5-year-old child died in a collision between an auto and a Bolero. Police are actively searching for the Bolero driver.
Gumla: A tragic road accident occurred on Tuesday evening on the Mahuadanr-Jairagi main road in the Dumri police station area of Gumla district, Jharkhand. The accident involved two elderly persons and a two-and-a-half-year-old child, all of whom died either at the scene or during treatment. The incident took place near Ambara Toli Bagan when an auto-rickshaw returning from Jairagi market collided head-on with a Bolero vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
Three Dead in Auto and Bolero Collision
According to local sources, the auto-rickshaw was carrying several passengers. The collision with the oncoming Bolero was so severe that the auto overturned, and its occupants sustained serious injuries. Upon receiving information about the accident, Dumri police station personnel, including SI Anandi Sahu, ASI Ankit Raj, and ASI Sunil Bauri, reached the spot. The police took possession of the bodies of the deceased and initiated an investigation.
Those who died at the scene were identified as 65-year-old Hunderu Nagesia of Chirodih and 55-year-old Bittu Turi of Mahuadanr Mahuwatoli in Latehar district. Meanwhile, 2.5-year-old Anish Bada, son of Pitarus Bada, succumbed to his severe injuries while being taken to Gumla in Raidih.
Bolero Driver Absconds
Police stated that the Bolero driver fled the scene after the accident, abandoning the vehicle. A thorough search is underway to apprehend him. With the help of villagers, the injured were immediately admitted to the Dumri Community Health Center, from where they were referred to Sadar Hospital Gumla for further advanced treatment after initial care.
During the incident, young Anish sustained critical head injuries, and doctors expressed their inability to save him. This accident has plunged the entire area into grief and shock.
Administration and Local People Engaged in Relief Work
Upon receiving news of the incident, David Minz, the Mukhiya of Udni Panchayat, also arrived at Dumri hospital. He met with the injured and the families of the deceased to offer his condolences. Local residents gathered at the accident site, assisted in relief efforts, and provided information to the police regarding the causes of the accident.
The police are planning to enhance regular patrolling and road safety measures in the area to prevent road accidents. The administration has appealed to the public to remain vigilant while driving and adhere to traffic rules.
