Chandigarh: The Haryana government has officially announced the implementation of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Ladli Lakshmi Yojana. Following a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Saini, this scheme will come into effect from September 25, 2025. The scheme's launch will coincide with the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
Objective and Eligibility Criteria of the Scheme
CM Nayab Saini stated in a press conference that the primary objective of the Ladli Lakshmi Yojana is to provide social security and dignity to women in Haryana. Under the scheme, eligible women will receive a financial assistance of ₹2100 per month. Women aged 23 years or above, whether married or unmarried, will be covered by this scheme. In the first phase, families with an annual family income below one lakh rupees have been included. Other income groups will be incorporated into the scheme in phases in the future.
It is mandatory for unmarried women or the husbands of married women to be original residents of Haryana for the past 15 years. There will be no restriction on the number of women in a family. If a family has three women, all three will receive the benefit. Additional benefits will be provided to women already receiving pensions, such as Stage 3 and 4 cancer patients, those with rare diseases, hemophilia, thalassemia, and sickle cell patients.
Furthermore, the scheme includes a provision that if an unmarried woman reaches the age of 45, she will automatically become eligible for the Widow and Destitute Women Financial Assistance Scheme. Similarly, upon completing the age of 60 years, eligibility for the Old Age Samman Bhatta Pension Scheme will be automatically applied.
Number of Beneficiaries
Chief Minister Saini informed that approximately 19-20 lakh women will benefit from this scheme in the first phase. The gazette notification for the scheme will be issued within the next 6-7 days. Additionally, a mobile app will also be launched, through which women can apply from home. The government will notify all potentially eligible women for application via SMS.
Moreover, a list of all eligible women will be published in all Panchayats and Wards. Gram and Ward Sabhas will also have the right to register any objections to the list.
