Himachal Pradesh is currently grappling with a severe disaster, but simultaneously, the state's political landscape appears to be heating up. State Minister Jagat Singh Negi has launched a sharp attack on Mandi MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. The minister stated that if Kangana is not satisfied with her parliamentary duties, she should immediately resign from her MP position so that the public can have a representative who stands with them in times of crisis.
Following this statement, political activity in the state has intensified, with the Congress openly targeting Kangana. Negi's b remarks are seen as a deep expression of displeasure over the MP's perceived inaction during the disaster.
Kangana's Statement: My Role is Limited
In fact, a few days ago, while visiting the disaster-affected areas in Mandi, Kangana Ranaut had said that relief and rescue work is the responsibility of the state government. She stated that as an MP, her role is limited to informing the Prime Minister and Home Minister about the situation and seeking central assistance. She clarified that she does not have any administrative authority or a ministerial position. She can only gather information about the situation from the Deputy Commissioners and report it to the central government.
After Kangana's statement, the Congress and other opposition parties targeted her. The opposition alleges that the MP is shirking her responsibilities and, instead of helping the public during the disaster, is portraying herself in a limited role.
Minister Negi's Sharp Remarks
Reacting to Kangana's statement, Himachal Pradesh's Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that if MP Kangana Ranaut is facing difficulty in fulfilling her duties or is not happy, she should resign immediately. The people of the state need an MP who stands with them on the ground; mere statements won't suffice.
Negi said that in this crisis, public representatives should stay in their constituencies and help people in relief and rescue operations, rather than just making statements and trying to avoid responsibility.
Heavy Destruction in Mandi
On Thursday, around 10 incidents of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides were recorded in several areas of Mandi district. So far, 15 people have lost their lives in the disaster, while 27 people are still missing. Additionally, 5 people are reported to be injured. The administration has intensified relief operations and has appealed to local residents to remain vigilant.
The state government has issued an alert and deployed additional forces in the disaster-affected areas. The Chief Minister's Office is also continuously monitoring the situation.
This disaster is not only disrupting the lives of people but is also becoming a major issue of political debate.
