IAS Surendra Singh Appointed Secretary to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

The state government has appointed 2005 batch IAS officer Surendra Singh as Secretary to the Chief Minister. He had returned on Monday itself after completing a deputation of approximately three years from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and all Union Territories) cadre.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed 2005 batch IAS officer Surendra Singh as Secretary to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This appointment comes after his recent return from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre, where he completed a deputation of approximately three years.

Surendra Singh previously served as Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad and also held the post of Special Secretary in the Chief Minister's Office from October 2019 to March 2021. With his appointment, the Chief Minister's Secretariat now has three Secretaries, in addition to Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad.

Surendra Singh's Administrative Journey

Surendra Singh's administrative career has been particularly significant in Uttar Pradesh. His appointment as Secretary to the Chief Minister after returning from the AGMUT cadre reflects the government's confidence in his administrative capabilities and experience. Prior to his deputation, he was posted as Divisional Commissioner in Moradabad. In this role, he made significant contributions to administrative reforms and the implementation of schemes in the district. 

Furthermore, while serving as Special Secretary in the Chief Minister's Office, he gained experience in formulating key administrative decisions and policies of the state. Surendra Singh's appointment is expected to further enhance administrative efficiency and accelerate the decision-making process in the Chief Minister's Office.

Current Structure of the Chief Minister's Secretariat

Currently, the Chief Minister's Secretariat operates under the leadership of Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad, with three Secretaries and five Special Secretaries. The current Secretaries include:

  • Surya Pal Gangwar – IAS
  • Amit Singh – Indian Railway Service
  • The list of Special Secretaries is as follows:

This structure of Secretaries and Special Secretaries in the Chief Minister's Secretariat helps in decision-making and maintaining balance in the state's administrative functions.
