Changes in Exam Pattern

IBPS has made significant changes to the 2025 exam pattern. These changes will be applicable to both phases of the examination, i.e., preliminary and mains.

New Pattern in Preliminary Examination

The preliminary examination will still have three sections:

  • English Language
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Reasoning Ability

However, the distribution of marks has been changed this time:

  • Quantitative Aptitude: 35 questions, total marks - 30 (previously 35)
  • Reasoning Ability: 35 questions, total marks - 40 (previously 35)
  • English Language: 30 questions, total marks - 30 (as before)

Thus, the weightage of each section will now be different. This will have a direct impact on the candidates' preparation strategy.

What Changed in the Main Exam

The total number of questions in the main examination has been reduced. Previously, this exam consisted of 155 questions, but now it will only have 145 questions.

  • Previous total time: 180 minutes
  • New time: 160 minutes

This change directly implies that candidates will now have to solve questions with greater accuracy in less time.

Important Dates

  • Application Start Date: First week of July 2025
  • Application Deadline: July 21, 2025
  • Tentative Date for Preliminary Exam: August-September 2025
  • Tentative Date for Main Exam: October-November 2025
  • Date of Issuance of Admit Card: Approximately 10 days before the exam
