Weather conditions across India are changing again this week, with cold conditions continuing in several regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain alerts for multiple states in northern India and cold wave warnings for 21 districts.
The IMD has issued rain alerts for February 2 and February 3 across seven states in north India, while light to moderate rainfall is likely in two additional states. According to the IMD, rainfall has been forecast for Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.
The IMD stated that wind speeds may reach up to 50 kilometres per hour in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. These regions are also likely to witness lightning and snowfall. Rain accompanied by b winds is also expected over Madhya Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. Weather experts said the system is expected to keep conditions cold across north India until February 14.
In the Delhi-NCR region, weather conditions are expected to remain relatively clear on February 2. However, b winds are likely during the morning hours, along with fog. According to the IMD forecast, the maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR is expected to be 22 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 9 degrees Celsius. Dense fog and b winds are likely during the morning hours.

In Uttar Pradesh, a yellow alert has been issued for moderate to heavy rainfall. The districts under the alert include Prayagraj, Lucknow, Raebareli, Sonbhadra, Lalitpur, Kanpur, Amethi, Pratapgarh, Chandauli, and Barabanki. Wind speeds in these districts are expected to reach around 40 kilometres per hour. The IMD stated that there is no likelihood of relief from cold conditions until February 14.
In Bihar, weather conditions are expected to remain relatively clear, with no rainfall alerts issued for any district. According to the IMD, normal weather conditions are expected to prevail until February 5. Light winds with speeds of up to 10 kilometres per hour may occur in some districts during the morning hours, including East Champaran, West Champaran, Kishanganj, Madhubani, Araria, Sitamarhi, and Supaul.
Snowfall and b wind warnings have also been issued for hill states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Authorities have advised caution for vehicle movement in these regions. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are also likely to experience snowfall along with lightning and stormy winds.
