Imran Khan Accuses Punjab CM of Denying Basic Rights in Jail, Demands FIR

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has accused the jail administration and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of denying him basic facilities in prison, demanding an FIR be registered.

Pakistan: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, has once again leveled serious allegations against the jail administration and the Punjab government. Khan claims that he is not only being deprived of basic facilities at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, but is also being completely isolated. In this matter, he has filed a complaint with the police, demanding action against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and senior jail officials.

Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023

Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023. Several cases have been registered against him, and he is currently serving his sentence in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. He alleges that the jail administration is treating him in a manner that cannot be considered appropriate for any prisoner. He stated that he is neither allowed to meet his family nor is he receiving basic health facilities.

No light in cell, restrictions on meeting family

In his complaint, Imran Khan stated that there is no light in his cell. He alleged that all this is being done on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Khan claims that he is not being granted the right to meet his family either. He wrote that meetings are being deliberately postponed to completely cut him off from the outside world.

All sources of media and information are cut off

Imran Khan said that he has been deprived of any kind of information. He is neither being allowed to watch TV nor access newspapers. He claims that all this is being done so that he remains completely unaware of current affairs and is entirely cut off from society. Khan has described this as a violation of human rights.

Harsh treatment with wife Bushra Bibi as well

Imran Khan stated in his complaint that the jail administration's treatment of his wife, Bushra Bibi, is also inhumane. Meetings have been restricted, and most of the books sent to her have been confiscated. In the last two months, Khan has only been given four books to read. He also said that he is not even being allowed to see his personal doctor, which is a direct violation of his right to health.

Allegations against jail officials as well

In his complaint, Imran Khan also mentioned the names of two police officers posted at Adiala Jail – Zainab and Aijaz. He alleged that these officers are harassing his family members and creating obstacles in meetings. Khan has demanded that strict action be taken against these officers as well.

Imran Khan's message on social media

Earlier, Imran Khan, through a post on social media, had said that he is fighting for the true freedom of Pakistan even while living in solitary confinement in jail. He wrote that his fight will continue until he frees his countrymen from the "shackles of slavery."

Tensions may increase in Pakistan's politics

Experts say that Imran Khan's complaint could further escalate tensions in Pakistan's politics. In Pakistan, which is already struggling with economic crisis and political instability, Imran Khan's allegations have raised questions about the role of the government and the jail administration.

The matter may resonate on international forums as well

Imran Khan's supporters say that if he is not provided with basic facilities in jail, this matter may be raised on international forums as well. Human rights organizations are also keeping an eye on this. If the allegations are proven true, it could have a negative impact on the image of the Pakistani government.
